June Hearthwork
Medicine harvesting is really going now! For the next 6 days, we are really in a great harvest time. Rising to the full moon! I really have noticed the difference in herbs over the moon cycle, despite how much I didn’t want there to be a difference so I could harvest whenever. Silly human I am.
For the month of June:
Continue to fully engage all the senses when harvesting. Smell deeply. Taste the plant. Feel all the parts. Take note of where you keep finding it. Write it all down in your createria medica.
If you don’t have an offering practice for plants at harvest yet, get one. Currently, I sing to the plants. I also give special offerings at every festival. I am out of asemaa (tobacco) which was also what I used to give and my Mugwort is running low from giving it to many fires over the Winter (what a blessing to do!). When I had dreads, quite often I would cut a piece of hair as an offering, my hair is very dear to me - I very rarely cut it - so it is something important to me. Now I have made a vow not to cut it so its not an option anymore (I do give my hair from brushing to the land).
Make a flower essence hair rinse. I will cover flower essences, briefly, this month but set out a bowl of water on the full moon and cover the water with flowers that call to you. The next day, rinse your hair with that water. You will see why in the flower essence post!
Continue meeting plants without harvesting. I can’t stress this enough. We are not overlords to plants, using them as we darn well please. We are relatives. Plants are here for us but not just for us. We humans need to understand we are not the center of it all, nor are we at the top.
Have a great June!
